Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Promise
Color Helper is built around four concrete privacy guarantees:
- Your images and palettes stay in your browser. Every tool runs as client-side JavaScript in your browser. Nothing you paste, drop, or type is uploaded to a server.
- No account required. You can use every tool without creating an account, signing up, or providing an email address.
- No image uploads. The Image Color Picker reads files from your device using the browser's local file system and processes them with the HTML5 Canvas API. Images never leave your device.
- No server-side storage of your color data. Color values, palettes, and tool inputs are not transmitted to or stored on any server. Saved palettes are kept in your browser's localStorage and can be cleared at any time.
What We Don't Collect
Color Helper does not collect:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number)
- Account credentials (we don't have accounts)
- Browser fingerprints or device identifiers
- Behavioral analytics (no Google Analytics, no Matomo, no Plausible)
- Your color palettes, images, or design data
- Cookies for tracking or analytics
Image Processing
When you use the Image Color Picker tool, your images are processed entirely within your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Images are read from your local file system, processed pixel by pixel in client-side JavaScript, and never uploaded to any server. The image data stays on your device and is discarded when you close or reload the page.
Local Storage
The Palette Library ("My Palettes") tool uses the browser's localStorage API to persist saved color palettes across sessions. This data is stored exclusively on your device, never sent to any server, and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings (typically under "Clear site data" or "Clear local storage"). We cannot access, view, or recover your saved palettes — they are yours alone.
Third-Party Services
Color Helper uses the following third-party services, each with a specific, limited purpose:
- Cloudflare Pages — Our hosting provider. Cloudflare handles CDN delivery, DDoS protection, and edge caching. Cloudflare's network logs may include IP addresses and request metadata for operational security. These logs are retained according to Cloudflare's privacy policy and are not accessible to us for analytics purposes.
- Google AdSense — We display non-intrusive, contextual advertisements on tool pages to cover hosting costs. Google AdSense may use cookies and device identifiers to serve personalized ads based on your browsing history. You can opt out of personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com. AdSense is loaded only on tool pages (color picker, palette generator, converter, etc.) and not on guides, about, or privacy pages.
- Google Fonts — We use Google Fonts for typography. When you load a page, your browser requests font files from Google's servers. Google may log your IP address for the purpose of serving these fonts. Refer to Google's privacy policy for details.
- IndexNow (Bing / Yandex) — When a new deployment is published, we optionally notify the IndexNow API to request re-indexing of our sitemap URLs. This submission includes only the list of public URLs to index — no personal data.
- GitHub — The source code for Color Helper is published on GitHub. If you submit a bug report or feature request via GitHub Issues, your GitHub username and the content of your submission will be publicly visible. This is optional and not required to use the tools.
Advertising, Cookies and Your Choices
Google AdSense is our sole source of revenue. We deliberately chose a contextual, privacy-respecting ad model. You can:
- Opt out of personalized ads at adssettings.google.com
- Use an ad-blocker if you prefer an ad-free experience
- Use the tools without clicking any ads — there is no paywall, no premium tier, no usage limit
- Manage your consent at any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer (consent state is stored in your browser only)
Note on tracking claims: we deliberately avoid blanket statements like "we don't track you". AdSense, when active, does set cookies for ad selection and frequency capping — that is part of how contextual advertising works. The precise statement is: we don't run our own analytics, we don't collect personal data, and all tool inputs stay in your browser. Any third-party cookies come exclusively from AdSense on tool pages and can be controlled via the consent banner.
Data Security
All connections to Color Helper are served over HTTPS via Cloudflare's edge network. We use HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) with preload to ensure browsers always connect securely. Because we do not collect, store, or process personal data, there is nothing to lose in a data breach.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable regulations (including the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive). Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Material changes — such as the addition of analytics, tracking, or user accounts — will be communicated via a notice on the website.
